Kalki 2898 AD Movie Review: A Grand Sci-Fi Experiment

I recently watched Kalki 2898 AD, and I must say, it is a massive step for Indian cinema. I was very curious to see how Nag Ashwin would handle such a huge scale. After the emotional journey of Mahanati, this was a total shift in genre. I went in with high hopes, and for the most part, I was not disappointed. The mix of Indian mythology and future tech felt very fresh to me.

The Story and My Experience

The movie starts by taking us back to the Mahabharat era. I loved how they connected the past with a dry, dying future. Prabhas plays Bhairava, a bounty hunter who just wants a better life. Amitabh Bachchan as Ashwatthama steals every scene he is in. To me, his presence made the movie feel legendary.

I paid close attention to the Hindi dubbing quality. Since this is a pan-India film, dubbing is very important. I was happy to hear Amitabh Bachchan’s own voice in Hindi. It adds so much weight to his character. For Prabhas, the dubbing was okay, but I felt the lip-sync was off in a few scenes.

Is this movie worth your 4K data? I would say a big YES. This is not a movie you watch on a small phone screen. You need a big TV and a good sound system to enjoy the world of 2898 AD.

The visual effects are some of the best I have seen in India. If you watch it in low quality, you will miss the fine details on the robots and the city walls. However, if you are not a fan of slow-burn sci-fi, you might find it a one-time watch. But for the visuals alone, it deserves a high-quality playback.

I really enjoyed my time with this film. It has some flaws in pacing, but the climax makes up for everything. The Hindi dubbing is solid and does not ruin the experience. It is a bold move for our film industry.
