I recently watched the trailer for Aar Paar, and I have a lot of thoughts to share. This movie is the Hindi dubbed version of the Telugu horror film Pindam. I am always a bit nervous when it comes to Hindi dubs of South Indian films. Sometimes they are great, but often they feel rushed. This trailer shows a mix of both good and bad things.
First Impressions: Hits and Misses
I think the trailer sets a very spooky mood. The story seems to revolve around a haunted house and a small child. I liked how the trailer does not show the ghost immediately. It builds tension slowly. One big “hit” for me is the background score. It is loud and scary.
However, a “miss” for me is the predictable plot. We have seen many movies about families moving into old, haunted houses. I hope the full movie brings something new to the table. I felt some scenes were a bit too dark to see what was happening.
Comparing with Director Saikiran Daida’s Style
The director, Saikiran Daida, is known for making movies that feel very grounded. If you look at his previous work, he focuses more on the “scare factor” rather than just CGI. I noticed that he likes to use silence to make the audience uncomfortable.
In Aar Paar, he seems to follow the same path. It is quite different from the loud, action-heavy dubbed movies I usually see. If you enjoy atmospheric horror, you might like his style. I have reviewed similar psychological thrillers on hdfolders.com, and this one feels like it belongs in that category.
Technical Quality & Hindi Dubbing
Let’s talk about the technical side of the trailer. I watched it in 4K, and it looks very sharp. The color grading is quite nice. They used a lot of cool blues and dark shadows. It gives the film a very cold and lonely feel. The cinematography looks professional and high-end.
Now, let’s get to the Hindi dubbing. To be honest, I am disappointed. The dubbing quality is just average. The biggest problem is the lip-sync. In many scenes, the Hindi dialogue does not match the actors’ mouth movements. It looks a bit awkward. Also, the voice choices for the main characters feel a bit weak. The emotions in the voice do not always match the expressions on the screen. It feels like the dubbing artists were just reading from a script.
Viewer’s Verdict: 4K Watch or One-Time View?
Is this movie worth a 4K watch? I would say yes, but only for the visuals. If you have a big 4K TV, the dark scenes will look amazing. The high resolution helps you see the small details in the haunted house.
However, because of the dubbing issues, it feels like a one-time view. I don’t think I would want to watch it again and again. The story seems interesting enough for a single sitting on a weekend night. If you can ignore the lip-sync issues, you will have a good time.
Conclusion
The Aar Paar trailer shows a lot of promise in terms of horror. I really liked the camera work and the scary atmosphere. But the poor Hindi dubbing takes away some of the fun. I hope the makers improve the audio before the final release. It is a decent attempt at a serious horror film.
My Rating: 3/5
