I recently sat down to watch the Hindi dubbed version of the Malayalam film Pallimani. If you love horror thrillers, you might have seen this title popping up on your feed lately. The Story: A Rainy Night and a Scary Church

The story is quite simple but keeps you on edge. A couple and their two young kids are traveling. Their car breaks down near an old, isolated church called Pallimani. Since it is raining heavily, they decide to stay there for the night.

Technical Quality & Hindi Dubbing

This is where I want to get specific. I watched the movie in 4K resolution. The visual quality is actually quite impressive. Since the movie happens mostly at night, the color grading is dark and moody. I liked how the shadows looked. It didn’t feel like a cheap low-budget film. The blacks are deep, and the lighting in the old church feels very real.

However, let’s talk about the Hindi dubbing. This is a hit-or-miss area for many South hits. In Pallimani, the Hindi voices are decent, but the lip-sync is not perfect. In some emotional scenes, I noticed the Hindi dialogue finishing a second after the actor’s mouth stopped moving. It’s not a deal-breaker, but it can be distracting if you look closely. Director Anil Kumbazha’s Style

When I compare this to his other works or similar horror films, I think he focused more on the “look” than the “scares.” Unlike some big-budget horror movies that rely on loud noises, he tries to build a creepy atmosphere. Is this worth a 4K watch? Well, if you have a big 4K TV and a good sound system, the atmosphere will feel great. The visuals of the rainy night and the old church are worth the high resolution.

However, the story is a bit slow in the middle. I would say this is a one-time view. It is a good movie to watch on a weekend night with your lights off. But it might not be a movie you would want to watch again and again. It’s a solid thriller for fans of the genre who want something different from Bollywood horror.
