In Damini, Santoshi focused more on social issues. In Ghayal, the focus is pure revenge and grit. I feel Santoshi knows how to use Sunny Deol better than any other director. He brings out the “Angry Young Man” image perfectly. Even compared to The Legend of Bhagat Singh, this movie feels more grounded and real.

Technical Quality & Hindi Dubbing

Now, let’s talk about the technical side of this 4K release. The 4K resolution makes the old scenes look very clear. I noticed details on Sunny’s face that I never saw before. The color grading is good, but not perfect. Some scenes look a bit too bright, which feels slightly fake. However, the dark scenes look much better now. The grain is still there, which keeps the old movie feel alive.

I paid close attention to the Hindi dubbing and audio sync. Since this is an old film, the original sound was not digital. In the 4K version, they tried to clean the audio. Most of the time, the Hindi dialogues match the lip-sync well. But in a few action scenes, I noticed a slight delay.

The background music is louder now. Sometimes, the loud music hides the dialogues. I wish they had balanced the voices better. The “dhai kilo ka haath” style of shouting sounds sharp, but sometimes it pierces the ears. If you have a good home theater, you will notice these small issues.

Is it worth watching Ghayal in 4K? If you are a big fan of Sunny Deol, then yes. It is a treat to see his expressions in high definition. The action looks much better than the old DVD versions.

However, if you are looking for a modern 4K experience, you might get disappointed. It still feels like an old movie that has been cleaned up. It is not a total transformation. For a casual viewer, a one-time watch on a standard HD screen might be enough. But for collectors, this 4K version is a must-have.
