I recently sat down to watch the 4K version of the 1996 hit movie Fareb. As soon as the opening credits rolled, I felt a wave of nostalgia. Most of us remember this film for one big reason: the iconic song “Yeh Teri Aankhen Jhuki Jhuki.” It is one of those melodies that stays with you forever. But does the movie still hold up today? The Story and Vibe

I always felt that Fareb was ahead of its time. It is a suspense thriller that doesn’t rely on too many gimmicks. The story follows a simple man who gets trapped in a web of lies and murder. I liked how the tension builds up slowly. The performances by Faraaz Khan and Suman Ranganathan felt very natural to me. Even after all these years, the plot didn’t feel boring. Technical Quality & Hindi Dubbing

This is the most important part of this review. I was very curious to see how an old 90s film would look in 4K resolution. I must say, the picture quality is a big step up. The colors look very real and not washed out. I noticed details in the actors’ faces that I never saw on my old TV. The dark scenes, which are common in thrillers, look much clearer now.

However, I have some mixed feelings about the Hindi dubbing and audio quality. Since this is a 4K remaster, the sound has been cleaned up. But in many scenes, I felt the Hindi dubbing didn’t match the lip-sync perfectly. In the 90s, movies were often dubbed in studios after filming. In this high-def version, you can clearly see when the words don’t match the lip movements. It felt a bit distracting to me. The background score is loud and clear, but the dialogue clarity could have been better.

Vikram Bhatt’s Direction

If I compare this movie to other films by Vikram Bhatt, I find Fareb to be one of his most honest works. Later in his career, he moved towards horror films like Raaz and 1920. While those were big hits, Fareb has a certain raw energy. I think his storytelling back then was much tighter. Viewer’s Verdict: Is it Worth a 4K Watch?

Now, the big question: Should you watch this in 4K?

In my opinion, if you are a fan of 90s music and thrillers, you should give it a try. The 4K visuals make the beautiful songs look like a dream. Seeing “Yeh Teri Aankhen Jhuki Jhuki” in high resolution was a great experience for me.

But if you are looking for a perfect technical masterpiece, you might be disappointed. The lip-sync issues and the old-school camera angles are very visible in 4K. For a casual viewer, I would say this is a one-time watch. It is perfect for a lazy Sunday when you want to feel nostalgic.

Conclusion

I enjoyed revisiting Fareb. It reminded me of a time when thrillers were simple but effective. The 4K version is a gift for fans, even with its small audio flaws. It is a solid movie with great music and a good plot.
