I recently sat down to rewatch the 1994 fantasy drama Prem Shakti. This movie stars Govinda and Karisma Kapoor in the lead roles. It is a story about true love, reincarnation, and a bit of magic. I watched the new 4K restored version of this film. I must say, the picture quality is a big surprise. The colors look very real and bright now. In the old DVD versions, the scenes looked dark and blurry. Now, you can see the details in the costumes clearly.

However, I want to talk about the Hindi dubbing quality. Since this is an older film, the actors recorded their lines in a studio later. Sometimes, the lip-sync does not match the actors’ mouths perfectly. I noticed this during the high-drama scenes. The background music is also very loud. Sometimes, it hides the actual dialogues. If you are a fan of clear sound, you might find this a bit annoying. But for a movie from 1994, the restoration team did a good job with the audio cleanup.

Why the 90s Vibe Works

I miss the simple storytelling of that era. There are no complex subplots here. It is a straight battle between good and evil. The songs by Raamlaxman are still very catchy.
