I recently watched the classic 1990s comedy Hum Hain Kamaal Ke. This movie features the legendary duo of Kader Khan and Anupam Kher. In Pyaar Hua Chori Chori, the focus was on the lead pair’s romance. But here, the focus is strictly on the friendship and situational comedy. If I compare it to his South Indian films, this movie feels very much like a typical 90s masala flick. It has the right mix of emotion, comedy, and a bit of suspense. Technical Quality & Hindi Dubbing

I watched the new 4K restored version of this film. I must say, the picture quality surprised me. The 4K resolution makes the old frames look very sharp. The colors are bright and do not look faded at all. I noticed that the watch repair shop scenes look very detailed now.

However, I need to talk about the Hindi dubbing quality. Back in the 90s, movies were often recorded in a studio after filming. This is called “Post-Sync.” In some scenes, I felt the lip-sync was a bit off. When Kader Khan speaks fast, his lips don’t always match the audio.

The background score is sometimes too loud. It almost drowns out the funny dialogues. But since Kader Khan wrote the dialogues himself, the words are very sharp. Even with some sync issues, the voice acting is top-notch. You can feel the emotions in their voices clearly.

Viewer’s Verdict: 4K Watch or One-Time View?

Is this movie worth a 4K watch? I would say yes if you are a fan of old-school comedy. The 4K version brings a fresh life to the visuals. It is much better than the blurry versions we see on TV.

However, if you are not into 90s slapstick humor, it might be a one-time watch for you. I personally enjoyed seeing the small details of the watch shop in high definition. It felt like I was sitting right there with them.
