Aitraaz Movie Review: Why Amrish Puri and Priyanka Chopra’s Scenes Still Work

I recently sat down to re-watch the classic thriller Aitraaz. It was released in 2004, but it still feels fresh. While the movie is a serious legal drama, one part stands out for me. That is the chemistry between Amrish Puri and Priyanka Chopra. Even though the film is about a serious court case, their scenes together add a unique flavor. Many fans call these moments “iconic comedy,” mostly because of how Amrish Puri acts as a lovestruck older husband.

In this movie, Amrish Puri plays Ranjit Roy, a wealthy businessman. Priyanka Chopra plays his ambitious wife, Sonia. I think Amrish Puri was brilliant here. We usually see him as a scary villain. But in Aitraaz, he acts like a shy, romantic teenager around Sonia.

I found their “shopping” and “sweet talk” scenes quite funny. He looks so much in love that it becomes adorable and slightly humorous. It sets up the tension for the rest of the story perfectly.

Technical Quality & Hindi Dubbing

I watched the remastered version recently. I wanted to see how the technical side holds up today.

4K Resolution and Color Grading

The 4K quality is surprisingly good for a 20-year-old film. I noticed that the skin tones look very real. The bright colors of the office and the beach scenes do not look washed out. The shadows are deep and clear. It does not feel like an old, grainy movie at all.

Hindi Dubbing and Audio Sync

Since Aitraaz is an original Hindi film, I looked closely at the ADR (Automated Dialogue Replacement). In many old movies, the lip-sync is off. But here, the Hindi dubbing quality is top-notch. I noticed that the dialogue matches the lip movements perfectly. The background score by Himesh Reshammiya sounds crisp in the high-definition audio track. Comparison with Other Abbas-Mustan Films

The directors, Abbas-Mustan, are famous for their thrillers. I compared Aitraaz to their other hits like Ajnabee and Race. I feel Aitraaz is much more grounded. While Race is full of crazy action and flying cars, this movie stays in the courtroom.

Viewer’s Verdict: Is it Worth a 4K Watch?

Now, the big question. Should you watch this in 4K or just stick to a normal version?

In my opinion, if you love Priyanka Chopra’s acting, the 4K version is a must. Her performance as a villain is legendary. The high resolution captures her expressions very well. However, if you are only watching for the story, a one-time view on any platform is fine. But for the “Iconic Comedy” scenes of Amrish Puri, the 4K detail makes his funny expressions even better. I would say it is worth a re-watch just for the nostalgia.

Conclusion

Aitraaz remains a solid entertainer. The mix of drama, music, and the unintentional comedy of Amrish Puri makes it a fun experience. The technical remastering has done justice to the film. The audio is clear, and the visuals are sharp. It is a great example of 2000s Bollywood at its best.
