I recently sat down to re-watch the climax of the classic Bollywood movie Ram Lakhan. This film is a true example of 1980s masala cinema. Technical Quality & Hindi Dubbing

I watched this movie in a 4K remastered version. The visual quality is surprisingly good. The colors look deep and very real. The skin tones of the actors look much better than the old DVD versions. The 4K resolution helps you see the details in the old police uniforms and the sets.

However, I have some complaints about the Hindi dubbing and audio sync. Since this is an old movie, the voices were recorded later in a studio. In the 4K version, the lip-sync looks a bit off. At times, Jackie Shroff’s mouth moves, but the sound comes a split second later.

The background music is also very loud. It sometimes hides the dialogues. The “cleaned-up” audio feels a bit thin. It lacks the heavy bass we expect from modern movies. While the picture is great, the audio sync needs more work.

Viewer’s Verdict: 4K or One-Time?

Is this movie worth a 4K watch? I would say yes, but only if you are a fan of old classics. The 4K version makes the movie look like it was shot recently. The outdoor scenes look beautiful. Jackie Shroff’s screen presence is even better in high definition.
