I recently watched the movie Monica, and it left me with many thoughts. If you enjoy dark stories about power and politics, this one might catch your eye. Now, let’s talk about the technical side. I watched this movie in a 4K version, but I was quite disappointed. Even though it says 4K, the image does not look sharp. It feels like they just stretched an old video. The color grading is very inconsistent. Some scenes look too dark, while others look washed out. It does not have that crisp look we expect from modern high-definition movies.

I have a big complaint about the Hindi dubbing and audio. Even though the original language is Hindi, the sync is terrible. It feels like the actors recorded their lines in a studio much later. The lip-sync does not match the words at all. In many emotional scenes, the voice starts before the actor moves their lips. This really ruined the experience for me. Comparing Director Sushen Bhatnagar’s Work

Sushen Bhatnagar directed this film. He also made the movie Soch a long time ago. If I compare the two, Monica is much more mature. Soch was more of a typical suspense thriller. However, Monica tries to be a serious political commentary. I feel the director wanted to make something very raw. But the low production budget shows in the final product. He is good at building tension, but the technical flaws let him down.

Viewer’s Verdict: 4K or One-Time View?

Is this movie worth a 4K watch? My honest answer is no. You do not need a high-end screen to enjoy this. The visuals are not grand or beautiful. In fact, the higher the resolution, the more you see the flaws in the camera work.

I would suggest watching this as a one-time view on your phone or a small laptop. The story is strong enough for one watch, especially for the performances. But it is not a “cinematic” experience that you need to save in your 4K collection.

I think Monica is a brave attempt to show a dark reality. The acting by Divya Dutta and Ashutosh Rana is top-notch. However, the bad Hindi dubbing and poor 4K mastering make it hard to enjoy fully. It is a decent pick if you have nothing else to watch this weekend.
