I recently revisited the 1993 mystery thriller Kohra, starring Ayesha Jhulka and Armaan Kohli. If you grew up in the 90s, you probably remember this movie for its suspense. However, I have some complaints about the Hindi dubbing and audio sync. Since this is an old movie, the ADR (Automated Dialogue Replacement) feels a bit off. In many scenes, the Hindi dubbing does not match the lip-sync perfectly. I noticed that the background score sometimes drowns out the dialogues. It feels like the audio was not cleaned up as well as the video. If you are a fan of high-quality sound, this might bother you. The voices feel a bit “thin” and lack the punch of modern movies.

Viewer’s Verdict: Is it worth a 4K watch?

Is Kohra worth watching in 4K? I would say it depends. If you love 90s nostalgia, the 4K version makes the movie look brand new. The sharpness is great for a 30-year-old film. But if you are looking for a perfect technical experience, the audio might let you down.

In my opinion, this is a one-time watch for most people. I enjoyed seeing Ayesha Jhulka on screen again. She was one of the best actresses of that era. But the movie feels a bit dated today. The “diamond” plot point is interesting, but the pacing is slow in the middle.

Conclusion

Kohra is a decent thriller that takes you back to the golden age of Bollywood mysteries. The 4K visuals are a big plus, but the Hindi dubbing sync issues are a letdown. I would recommend watching it on a lazy weekend if you like old-school suspense.
