Anaam Movie Review: अरमान कोहली और आयशा जुल्का की सुपरहिट सस्पेंस फिल्म

If you grew up in the 90s, you probably remember the movie Anaam. It stars Armaan Kohli and Ayesha Jhulka in a very intense suspense story. I recently re-watched this film in 4K. It brought back a lot of memories. The movie was a hit because of its mystery and great songs. If you like old-school Bollywood thrillers, this one is a classic.

The Story and Performances

The story of Anaam is about a man who loses his memory. He does not know who he is. Suddenly, the police and criminals start chasing him. Armaan Kohli played the lead role. I think he did a decent job for that time. He looked tough and fit the action hero image.

Ayesha Jhulka was the female lead. She looked very pretty and acted well. Their chemistry in the songs was a big highlight. The music by Nadeem-Shravan was a super hit. I still hum the song “O Priya” sometimes. It was a solid thriller that kept me guessing until the end.

Director Anees Bazmee’s Early Work

Most people know Anees Bazmee for his comedy films. He made hits like No Entry and Welcome. You can check our review of other comedy hits on hdfolders.com. But Anaam was his directorial debut. It was a dark and serious suspense film.

I found it interesting to compare this to his later work like Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. In Anaam, his focus was on mystery and tension. Now, he focuses more on loud comedy and big sets. I personally feel his storytelling in this movie was very sharp. He handled the suspense quite well for a first-time director.

Technical Quality & Hindi Dubbing

I watched the new 4K version of this movie. I must say, the picture quality is a big surprise. The colors look very clean and sharp now. The old grainy look of the 90s is mostly gone. The skin tones look natural and the outdoor scenes are bright.

Now, let’s talk about the Hindi dubbing quality. Back in the 90s, actors used to record their voices in a studio later. In this 4K version, I noticed some issues with the lip-sync. Sometimes the words do not match the lip movements perfectly. It feels a bit distracting in close-up shots.

The background score is also a bit loud. Sometimes it hides the dialogues. However, the Hindi dubbing for the side characters feels a bit dated. Some voices sound too dramatic. But for a 30-year-old movie, the restoration team did a good job overall.

Viewer’s Verdict: 4K Watch or One-Time View?

Is Anaam worth a 4K watch today? I would say it depends. If you love 90s nostalgia, you will enjoy the 4K clarity. The songs look beautiful in high resolution. It is a great way to see Armaan Kohli at his peak.

But if you are a modern viewer, it might feel a bit slow. The action scenes are old-fashioned. The “dubbing” errors might annoy you if you want perfection. For most people, this is a one-time watch on a lazy weekend. I enjoyed it because I like old suspense movies.

Conclusion

Anaam remains one of the better thrillers from that era. It has good music, a mysterious plot, and a young cast. Anees Bazmee showed his talent right from his first film. The 4K version makes it look fresh, even with some audio-sync issues. It is a fun trip down memory lane for Bollywood fans.
