I recently watched the new Hindi dubbed release titled Lockdown (Vasham). This movie is a sci-fi thriller that originally came out in Telugu. I was curious to see how it looks in its new Hindi version. If you like stories about scientists and mind control, this one might interest you.
The Story and Concept
The movie follows a young scientist who discovers something big. He finds a way to control the human mind. Soon, he realizes that his invention is dangerous. Bad people want to use his work for their own gain. I liked the basic idea of the film. It felt fresh compared to the usual romantic or action movies we see.
The plot moves quickly in the first half. I felt the tension building up as the hero tried to protect his secret. However, the second half felt a bit stretched. I think the director could have made it tighter. You can check out more details about the film on its Wikipedia page.
Technical Quality & Hindi Dubbing
I watched this movie in 4K resolution. I must say, the picture quality is very clean. The colors look natural and deep. It does not have that cheap digital look. The cinematographer did a great job with the lighting in the lab scenes.
Now, let’s talk about the Hindi dubbing. This is very important for a dubbed release. I felt the voice acting was okay but not great. Some of the emotional scenes didn’t hit the mark because the Hindi voices sounded a bit flat. Also, the lip-sync was off in several places. The Hindi words were often longer than the original Telugu lines. This made the characters look like they were still talking when the sound had stopped.

Comparison with Director’s Work
Director Srikanth Challa is known for trying different things. Unlike many directors who stick to “Masala” films, he likes sci-fi. I compared this to his other projects and noticed a pattern. He likes to keep the scale small but the ideas big. While Lockdown (Vasham) is not a big-budget film, his vision is clear. He focuses more on the story than on unnecessary dance numbers. I appreciate that he stayed true to the genre.
Viewer’s Verdict: 4K or One-Time View?
Is this movie worth your time? I think it depends on what you like. If you are a fan of science fiction, you will enjoy the concept. The 4K quality makes it look beautiful on a big screen.
However, because of the dubbing issues and the slow pace in the middle, I cannot call it a masterpiece. For me, it is a one-time view. You can watch it on a lazy Sunday afternoon. It is good for a single watch, but you might not want to see it again. The technical side is strong, but the soul of the movie gets a bit lost in translation.
Conclusion
Overall, Lockdown (Vasham) is a brave attempt at sci-fi in Indian cinema. I liked the visuals and the main lead’s performance. The Hindi dubbing could have been much better to match the 4K quality. It is a decent movie for those who want to see something different from the usual Bollywood stuff.
