I recently sat down to watch the latest South Indian Hindi dubbed movie called Inspector No.1, which was originally released as Mutrugai. If you love a good crime thriller, you probably already have this on your watchlist. I have always been a fan of South Indian mystery films because they usually have a very strong plot. This movie is no different. It tries to keep you guessing until the very end.

The Story and My First Impressions

I feel that the story of Inspector No.1 starts a bit slow. It follows a tough police officer who gets involved in a very strange murder case. The Hindi dubbing is where I have some mixed feelings. I have watched many movies on hdfolders.com, and usually, the dubbing is great. In Inspector No.1, the voice for the main hero is strong. It suits his personality. However, the lip-sync is not perfect.

In some emotional scenes, the Hindi words finish before the actor stops moving his lips. It can be a bit distracting if you watch closely. The supporting characters have okay voices, but some sound a bit repetitive. The background music is loud and helps the mystery, but sometimes it drowns out the Hindi dialogues.

Viewer’s Verdict: Is it worth a 4K watch?

I get asked this a lot: should you watch this in 4K? Personally, I think Inspector No.1 is a one-time watch. While the 4K quality makes the forest and crime scenes look great, the story doesn’t have much “rewatch value.”

Once you know the mystery, the thrill is gone. I would suggest watching it on a weekend when you want a solid mystery. It is a good movie, but it is not a “masterpiece” that you will watch again and again.

Conclusion

I think Inspector No.1 (Mutrugai) is a decent addition to the South Indian Hindi dubbed library. It has a great lead actor and a story that stays on track. The Hindi dubbing is average, but the 4K visuals are impressive. If you like police procedurals, give it a go.
