I recently watched the 1989 action film Hum Se Na Takarana. This movie is a classic example of 80s Bollywood masala. It features a huge star cast including Dharmendra, Shatrughan Sinha, and Mithun Chakraborty. If you grew up watching these legends, you will feel very nostalgic. I wanted to see how this old hit looks in the modern era.

The story is quite simple but very loud. It is about brothers and friends fighting against a cruel villain. Kimi Katkar and Anita Raj also play important roles. The movie has a lot of “paisa vasool” moments. I enjoyed the chemistry between the three leads. They really dominated the screen back then. You can check more details about the cast on the official Wikipedia page.

Comparing with Other Deepak Bahry Movies

Deepak Bahry directed this movie. He was famous for making big multi-starrer action films. I have watched his other films like Hum Se Hai Zamana and Ustadi Ustad Se. If you compare them, you will see a pattern. Bahry loves showing hero entry scenes with loud music. He also focuses a lot on family revenge themes.

In Hum Se Na Takarana, the action feels more raw than in his other films. I think this movie has better dialogue delivery than Hum Se Hai Zamana. However, the plot of Ustadi Ustad Se felt a bit more tightly packed. If you like his style, you will definitely enjoy this one. Technical Quality & Hindi Dubbing

Now, let’s talk about the technical side. I watched the restored 4K version of this film. The 4K resolution is surprisingly good for such an old movie. The colors look very clean and sharp. You can see the details on the actors’ faces clearly. The makers did a good job with the color grading. The reds and greens look very punchy now.

However, I have a big complaint about the Hindi dubbing quality. Since this is an old film, the audio restoration is not perfect. In many scenes, the Hindi dubbing does not match the lip-sync of the actors. It feels like the voices were recorded in a small room. The background noise sometimes drowns out the main dialogues.

I noticed that Mithun’s lines often feel slightly delayed. This happens a lot in these old 4K remasters. The audio track feels “thin” and lacks the deep bass we hear in modern movies. It was a bit distracting for me. I wish they had cleaned the audio as well as they cleaned the video.

Why the Action Still Works

Even with the dubbing issues, the action is great. I loved seeing Dharmendra throwing his famous punches. Shatrughan Sinha’s “Khamosh” style is always a treat to watch. Mithun adds his unique dancing and fighting style to the mix. These three together make the movie very entertaining. The stunts are old-school but they feel very real. There is no heavy CGI here, just real men doing real stunts.

Viewer’s Verdict: Is it Worth a 4K Watch?

You might wonder if you should find a 4K print or just watch it on YouTube. I think this movie is a one-time view for most people. If you are a hardcore fan of Mithun or Dharmendra, then go for the 4K version. The visual clarity will make you happy. But if you just want to enjoy the story, a normal HD version is fine. The dubbing issues are more noticeable in high quality. It might ruin the experience for some viewers.

Conclusion

Hum Se Na Takarana is a fun ride for action lovers. It has big stars, loud songs, and lots of fights. The 4K visuals are a big plus, but the poor Hindi dubbing is a letdown. It is a great trip down memory lane. I would suggest watching it with friends for some old-school fun.
