मुल्क – Mulk Full Hindi Movie (4K) Rishi Kapoor & Taapsee Pannu | Ashutosh Rana & Neena Gupta (2026) Movie watch Review

Movie Review: Mulk (4K Remastered 2026) – A Timeless Courtroom Masterpiece Reborn

Release Year (Original): 2018 | 4K Re-release: 2026
Director: Anubhav Sinha
Cast: Rishi Kapoor, Taapsee Pannu, Ashutosh Rana, Neena Gupta, Manoj Pahwa, Prateik Babbar
Genre: Social Drama / Courtroom Thriller

Eight years after its initial release, the 4K remaster of Mulk arrives in 2026, proving that some stories don’t age—they only become more relevant. While the late Rishi Kapoor’s presence feels bittersweet, the high-definition restoration brings a new layer of intensity to this hard-hitting examination of prejudice, patriotism, and identity in modern India.

The Plot and Performances

Mulk follows the Mohammed family, headed by the respected Advocate Murad Ali Mohammed (Rishi Kapoor). Their lives are shattered when a younger family member (Prateik Babbar) is involved in a terrorist attack. The film isn’t about the act of terror itself, but the “trial” the family faces at the hands of society and the law.

Rishi Kapoor delivers a career-best performance; in 4K, every line of age and worry on his face tells a story of dignity under fire. Taapsee Pannu, as the daughter-in-law and defense lawyer, is the film’s fiery soul. Her “Closing Argument” remains one of the most powerful monologues in Indian cinema. Ashutosh Rana, playing the antagonistic prosecutor, is chillingly effective, representing the subtle communal bias that often hides behind legal jargon.

Critique: The “Hindi Dubbing” & Audio Clarity

Since Mulk is a native Hindi-language film, the term “dubbing” here refers to the ADR (Automated Dialogue Replacement) and the sound mixing for this 4K Atmos version.

In many high-budget Hindi films, the ADR can feel detached from the physical performance. However, in this 2026 4K cut:

  • Sync Accuracy: The lip-sync is flawless. The remastering team has tightened the audio-to-visual sync, ensuring that the heavy emotional breaths and stuttered dialogues in the courtroom feel organic.
  • Vocal Texture: The 4K version enhances the “bass” in Ashutosh Rana’s voice and the “quiver” in Manoj Pahwa’s voice. Unlike older versions where the background score sometimes drowned out the dialogue, this version features a crisp separation.
  • Atmospheric Sound: The “noise” of the crowded Varanasi lanes and the oppressive silence of the courtroom are now layered beautifully. It doesn’t feel like a “studio dub”; it feels like you are sitting in the middle of the heated courtroom.

The Anubhav Sinha Evolution: Comparisons

To understand Mulk, one must look at the trajectory of Anubhav Sinha.

  • The Transition: Before Mulk, Sinha was known for slick but commercial films like Ra.One and Tum Bin. Mulk was the “pivot” point that turned him into India’s premier voice for social justice cinema.
  • Vs. Article 15: While Article 15 is more atmospheric and investigative, Mulk is more vocal and confrontational. Mulk screams its message, whereas Article 15 whispers it through shadows.
  • Vs. Thappad: Both films deal with “denial.” In Thappad, the husband denies the gravity of a slap; in Mulk, society denies the family’s right to be called “Indian.”
  • The Verdict on Style: Mulk remains Sinha’s most “theatrical” work compared to the minimalist realism of his 2020s films (Bheed, Anek). It uses the courtroom as a stage for a grand moral debate.

4K Visuals: Is it Worth the Upgrade?

The 4K HDR grading does wonders for the film’s color palette. The dusty, orange hues of Varanasi and the claustrophobic, wooden interiors of the court are rich in detail. You can see the texture of the lawyers’ robes and the sweat on the characters’ brows, which adds to the mounting tension.

Viewer’s Verdict: 4K Must-Watch or One-Time View?

Verdict: A Definitive 4K Watch.

Mulk is not just a movie; it is a conversation. If you haven’t seen it, the 2026 4K version is the definitive way to experience it. If you have seen it before, the visual clarity and the enhanced Dolby Atmos track make the courtroom climax significantly more visceral.

Why 4K? Because this is a performance-driven film. The ability to see the micro-expressions of Rishi Kapoor and Manoj Pahwa in Ultra-HD changes how you perceive their pain.

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐½ (4.5/5)
Recommendation: Don’t watch it for the “action”—watch it for the “dialogue.” It’s a masterclass in writing and a mirror to society that still hasn’t cracked.

  4. Great Movie !! Terrorism has two components, act and intent, which must be dealt with separately. The act has to be dealt with prosecution. The intent often stems out of communal or ideological prejudices and can only be dealt with social reforms and intellectual discourse.
