Rekha’s Grand Return! Super Naani 2026 Movie Review: Is It Worth the Hype?

The evergreen queen of Bollywood, Rekha, is finally back on the big screen! Her latest release, Super Naani की सुपर हीरो मूवी (2026), has been the talk of the town since its announcement. Starring alongside veterans like Randhir Kapoor and Anupam Kher, and the talented Sharman Joshi, this movie promises a mix of family drama and a modern “superhero” twist.

The Plot: A Traditional Story with a Modern Twist

The story follows a grandmother (Rekha) who is often overlooked by her family. However, things take a wild turn when her grandson (Sharman Joshi) helps her rediscover her “superpowers”—not just physical ones, but the power of self-respect and confidence. Randhir Kapoor plays her husband with a charming old-school vibe, while Anupam Kher adds his signature comic timing as a family friend.

Critiquing the Hindi Dubbing and Sound Quality

One of the most talked-about aspects of this film is the technical side. Even though it is a Hindi film, there were several reports regarding the Hindi dubbing quality, especially in the action sequences.

To be honest, the dubbing feels a bit disjointed in some scenes. In several emotional close-ups of Rekha, the lip-syncing seems slightly off, which can be distracting for a 2026 production. While Rekha’s own voice is magical as always, the background characters and some of the supporting cast seem to have been dubbed in a hurry. If you are a fan of crisp, high-quality audio, you might find these small glitches a bit disappointing.

Director’s Vision: Comparing to Previous Hits

Directed by Indra Kumar (who also gave us the original Super Nani and the Dhamaal series), this movie follows his classic “family-first” formula.

However, if you compare Super Naani 2026 to Indra Kumar’s earlier hits like Dil or Ishq, this film feels much more experimental. While his older films relied on slapstick humor, this one tries to blend CGI with family values. Compared to the 2014 Super Nani, the 2026 version is definitely bigger in scale, but it lacks the tight screenplay that made his 90s movies legendary. It’s better than Total Dhamaal in terms of emotions, but it doesn’t quite reach the iconic status of his early career.

Performance Check: Rekha and Sharman Joshi

Rekha is the heart and soul of the movie. At her age, her grace and screen presence are unmatched. Sharman Joshi provides great support, playing the relatable grandson with ease. The chemistry between Randhir Kapoor and Rekha brings a nostalgic warmth to the screen that will surely make the older generation smile.
