I remember watching Trimurti when it first came out. The hype was huge. It had the biggest stars: Jackie Shroff, Anil Kapoor, and Shah Rukh Khan. Even the villain, Kooka Singh, was scary. I recently watched the remastered 4K version. I wanted to see if the magic of Subhash Ghai is still there.

The Story: Can the Brothers Save Their Mother?

The story of Trimurti is about a mother and her three sons. Satyadevi, played by Raakhee, goes to jail because of the evil Kooka Singh. She hopes her sons—Shakti, Anand, and Romi—will unite to defeat him. I liked the chemistry between the brothers. Jackie is the serious one. Anil is the funny one. Shah Rukh is the young, romantic one.

Subhash Ghai vs. His Own Classics

I have seen many films by Subhash Ghai. I think Ram Lakhan and Khalnayak were much better. Those movies had a better flow. In Trimurti, I felt the director tried too hard. He wanted to make it very big. But sometimes, simple stories work better. Compared to Saudagar, this movie feels a bit messy. I missed the tight script that Ghai is famous for.

Technical Quality & Hindi Dubbing

I watched this in 4K resolution. I must say, the picture is very clear. The colors look natural and bright. The mountain scenes look great. However, I have some complaints about the technical side.

Let’s talk about the Hindi dubbing and audio sync. In the 90s, actors dubbed their voices in a studio later. I noticed that in this 4K version, the lip-sync is off. In many scenes, Anil Kapoor’s mouth moves, but the sound comes a second later. This was very distracting for me.

The Hindi dubbing quality feels old. The background music is often louder than the dialogues. I had to keep changing the volume. If you are a fan of clear audio, this might bother you. The restoration team did a good job with the video, but the audio sync needs work.

Viewer’s Verdict: 4K Watch or One-Time View?

Is Trimurti worth a 4K watch? I would say it is a one-time view. If you love 90s nostalgia, you will enjoy the visuals. The songs like “Sadiyan Saal” look beautiful in high definition. But the story is not strong enough for a repeat watch.

I enjoyed seeing Shah Rukh Khan in his early days. His energy is amazing. But the technical flaws in the audio make it hard to enjoy fully. If you have a big home theater, the 4K picture will look nice. But don’t expect a perfect cinematic experience.

Conclusion

I have mixed feelings about Trimurti. I loved the star power. I liked the emotional scenes with the mother. But the slow second half and bad audio sync hurt the movie. It is a classic “masala” film that didn’t quite hit the mark. It is good for a Sunday afternoon with family. Just don’t expect it to be as good as Ram Lakhan.
