I recently sat down to watch the 4K version of the movie Aaghaaz. If you grew up in the 90s, you know Suniel Shetty was the king of action. This movie is a classic example of his “angry young man” era. I wanted to see if the new 4K restoration actually makes the experience better.

Now, let’s talk about the 4K quality. I was surprised by how clean the movie looks now. The grain from the old film prints is mostly gone. The colors look much better. The reds and greens in the outdoor scenes are very sharp. It does not look like a movie from the year 2000.

However, I noticed some issues with the Hindi dubbing and audio. Even though this is an original Hindi movie, the remastering felt a bit off. In some scenes, the lip-sync does not match the sound perfectly. It feels like they re-recorded some dialogues later.

Director Yogesh Ishwar is known for making straightforward masala movies. I compared this movie to his other work like Hasti. Both films have a similar soul. They focus on a hero fighting against a corrupt system.

But I think Aaghaaz has better production value. The scale feels bigger here. Compared to other action directors of that time, Yogesh Ishwar keeps things simple. He does not use too many camera tricks. I prefer this simple style of storytelling. It allows the hero to shine without distractions.

Viewer’s Verdict: Is it Worth a 4K Watch?

Is this movie worth your time in 4K? I would say yes, but only if you are a fan of old-school Bollywood. The 4K resolution makes the old sets and costumes look very clear. It is a great trip down memory lane.
