I recently re-watched Aitraaz, and I am still thinking about Priyanka Chopra’s performance. This movie came out in 2004, but it feels ahead of its time. Most actresses back then wanted to play the “sweet girl” role. But Priyanka chose to play a bold, power-hungry villain. I think this was the best decision of her career. It made her a superstar overnight.

In the movie, Priyanka plays Sonia Roy. She is ambitious and wants a high-flying life. I really liked how she showed her hunger for success. I have always been a fan of the director duo Abbas-Mustan. They are famous for making thrillers with lots of twists. I have watched many of their films like Baazigar and Ajnabee. If I compare Aitraaz to Humraaz, I feel Aitraaz has a better story. While Humraaz was about a mystery, Aitraaz is a courtroom drama. It tackles the sensitive topic of sexual harassment against men. I think the directors handled this very well. They did not make it look cheap. They kept the tension high until the very last scene.

Technical Quality & Hindi Dubbing

I watched this movie in a 4K upscaled version recently. I must say, the 4K resolution makes a big difference. I could see the details in Priyanka’s expensive outfits clearly. The color grading is also much better now. The old yellowish tint from the 2000s is gone. The frames look clean and modern.

However, I have to talk about the Hindi dubbing quality. Since this is an old film, the ADR (sync-sound) isn’t as good as today’s movies. I noticed that in many scenes, the Hindi dubbing does not match the lip-sync perfectly. I found it a bit distracting during the emotional courtroom scenes. The voice levels also jump up and down. Sometimes the background music is too loud, and I could barely hear the dialogues. If you are watching this on a big screen, you will notice these sound gaps easily. I wish they had cleaned the audio better for the 4K release.

Why This Movie Still Works

I believe the movie works because of its logic. It does not have many “filmy” holes. I liked how Akshay Kumar’s character fought for his dignity. Kareena Kapoor also did a great job as the supportive wife. But for me, the movie belongs to Priyanka. Every time she comes on screen, I couldn’t look away. Her “bold choice” wasn’t just about the clothes. It was about her choosing a role that others were afraid to touch.

Viewer’s Verdict: 4K Watch or One-Time View?

Is Aitraaz worth a 4K watch? I would say yes. If you are a fan of 2000s Bollywood, you will love the improved visuals. The songs like “Gela Gela Gela” look great in high definition. However, if you hate bad lip-sync and audio issues, you might find it annoying. For a casual fan, it might just be a one-time view on a mobile screen.
