I recently re-watched the 1994 Bollywood classic Andaz. This movie features Anil Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, and Juhi Chawla. It is a typical 90s masala film. Technical Quality & Hindi Dubbing

I watched the new 4K version of this movie. I was curious to see how an old film looks in high resolution. The 4K version is quite clean. I noticed that the colors are much better now. The bright outfits of Karisma and Juhi look great. The skin tones also look more real than the old blurry DVDs.

However, I found some issues with the Hindi dubbing. In many scenes, the lip-sync does not match perfectly. I felt that the voices sounded a bit “hollow” in the 4K print. Sometimes, the background music is too loud. This makes it hard to hear the dialogues clearly. I wish the sound engineering was better for this remaster. The dubbing feels a bit dated compared to the clear 4K visuals.

Viewer’s Verdict: 4K Watch or One-Time View?

Is Andaz worth a 4K watch? I would say it depends. If you love 90s nostalgia, then the 4K version is a treat. It is fun to see the stars in such high detail. But if you are watching it for the first time, a regular HD version is fine.

I think the movie is a bit long. Some parts feel slow today. I would call it a great one-time watch for the songs and the Karisma-Anil chemistry. It is not a masterpiece, but it is good fun for a Sunday afternoon.

Conclusion

I enjoyed going back to this era of cinema. The performances by the lead actors are the soul of the film. While the technical side has some flaws, the entertainment value is high. I liked the songs and the colorful sets. The Hindi dubbing could be better, but it doesn’t ruin the experience.
