I recently re-watched the famous comedy scenes from the movie Son of Sardaar. This film features Sanjay Dutt and Anupam Kher in very funny roles. Technical Quality & Hindi Dubbing

I watched this movie in a 4K upscale version recently. I must talk about the technical side. The 4K resolution makes the colors look very sharp. The yellow mustard fields and the colorful turbans look great on a big screen. I think the color grading is a bit too bright, but it fits the happy mood of the film.

However, I have some complaints about the Hindi dubbing and audio sync. Since this is an original Hindi film, the “dubbing” I am talking about is the ADR (studio recording). In many scenes, I felt the lip-sync was a bit loose. I could see the actors saying something, but the sound came a millisecond later. The voices also sounded a bit flat. It felt like they were recorded in a small room, which takes away the “open field” feeling of the scenes. I wish the sound mixing was better to match the high-quality 4K visuals.

Why the “No Entry” Scene is Famous

The specific scene where Anupam Kher’s character fails is a fan favorite. I think it worked because it was unexpected. Sanjay Dutt’s reaction in that scene is priceless. My favorite part is how they used the background music to make the joke land better. It is not deep cinema, but it is very entertaining.

Viewer’s Verdict

Is this movie worth a 4K watch? I would say yes, but only if you are a big fan of Sanjay Dutt. The visuals are clean, but the movie is quite old now. If you are watching it for the first time, a one-time view is enough. I don’t think it has the “repeat value” of a movie like Hera Pheri. It is a good pick for a lazy Sunday with your family.

Conclusion

I enjoyed revisiting this movie for the nostalgia. The comedy is loud, the colors are bright, and the acting is decent. The audio issues are a bit distracting in the high-definition version. But overall, it is a fun ride.
