I recently watched the 4K version of Army, the 1996 action movie starring Shahrukh Khan and Sridevi. Seeing these two legends together on screen is always a treat. Even though Shahrukh has a smaller role, his energy is amazing. Sridevi, as always, carries the whole film on her shoulders.

Now, let’s talk about the 4K resolution. I noticed that the picture is much cleaner now. The old grainy look from the VHS days is gone. The skin tones of the actors look very natural. The outdoor scenes in the jungle look sharp and green.

However, I have some thoughts on the audio. Since this is a 4K remaster, I expected the sound to be perfect. The Hindi dubbing (ADR) in the 90s was often done in studios later. In this 4K version, the lip-sync feels a bit off in some scenes.

I felt that the background music sometimes hides the dialogues. The voices sound a bit too “hollow” in the emotional scenes. It does not feel as smooth as modern movies. Shahrukh Khan and Sridevi’s Chemistry

Even though Shahrukh Khan is not in the whole movie, his scenes are the best. I loved the song “Main To Hoon Pagal Munda.” In 4K, his expressions look even better. You can see his early charm. Sridevi looks beautiful and tough at the same time. Her performance is the real soul of this film.

Viewer’s Verdict: Is it worth a 4K watch?

Is Army worth watching in 4K? I think it depends on why you are watching it. If you are a die-hard fan of Sridevi or SRK, then yes. The 4K visuals make them look like royalty. The action scenes also look great on a big screen.

But if you want a perfect technical experience, you might be disappointed. The Hindi dubbing and sound mixing show their age. It is not a “perfect” remaster. For most people, this is a great one-time watch for nostalgia. It is fun to watch with family on a Sunday afternoon.
