I recently sat down to rewatch the classic Bollywood film Caravan. It is a superhit thriller from 1971 that still feels fresh today. I could hear every word Jeetendra said without any muffled background noise. The music by R.D. Burman also sounds deep and punchy.

The Story and Performances

The story follows Sunita, played by Asha Parekh. She is running away from a murderous husband. She joins a group of gypsies. That is where she meets Mohan, played by Jeetendra. I think Jeetendra was at his peak here. His energy is amazing in the dance numbers. Asha Parekh looks beautiful and plays the scared-but-brave girl very well.

Aruna Irani also deserves a mention. She plays a jealous gypsy girl. Her dance in the song “Chadti Jawani” is legendary. I felt the chemistry between the lead pair was very natural. The movie has everything: comedy, action, and great songs.

You might wonder if you should watch this in 4K or just stick to the old version. In my opinion, this is definitely worth a 4K watch. It is not just a one-time view. The scenic beauty of the outdoor locations looks great in high resolution. If you have a big TV at home, you will see the difference.

The colors are not washed out. The skin tones look natural and not too orange. It feels like a brand-new experience. I would recommend this to anyone who loves high-quality cinema from the golden era.
