I recently sat down to watch Dirty Politics, a movie that created quite a stir when it first came out. If you like political dramas filled with greed and power struggles, this one might catch your eye. The film features Mallika Sherawat in a lead role. She plays Anokhi Devi, a woman who wants to become the Chief Minister at any cost.

The Story and Performances

I felt that Mallika Sherawat did a decent job as a woman driven by ambition. However, the real stars for me were the veterans. Om Puri and Naseeruddin Shah are legends for a reason. They bring a lot of weight to the screen. I liked how Om Puri played the corrupt politician. He made me hate his character, which means he acted well!

The story is about a “samjhauta” or a deal. Anokhi Devi uses a private CD to blackmail powerful men. My main issue was with the pacing. Some scenes felt very slow. I think the script could have been much tighter. It felt like a 90s movie trapped in a modern setting.

Comparison with K.C. Bokadia’s Other Films

The director, K.C. Bokadia, is known for big hits like Aaj Ka Arjun and Phool Ane Angaray. If I compare Dirty Politics to his older work, it feels a bit dated. His older movies had a certain raw energy. Those films felt like true “masala” entertainers.

In this movie, I missed that classic Bokadia touch. While his older films were loud and proud, this one felt confused. It wanted to be a serious social drama but kept falling back into old tropes. If you enjoyed his previous work, you might find this one a bit weak in comparison.

Technical Quality & Hindi Dubbing

I watched the high-definition version to see the technical side. To be honest, the 4K resolution does not add much here. The colors look okay, but the lighting is very inconsistent. Some scenes look too bright, while others look dull. I did not see any great color grading that would make it a visual treat.

I want to talk specifically about the Hindi dubbing and sync. Since many scenes were shot in natural settings, a lot of the dialogue was re-recorded in a studio. I noticed that the Hindi dubbing does not match the lip-sync in several places. It felt very distracting.

The background score was also way too loud. It often drowned out the actors’ voices. I think the sound engineering team could have done a better job. The audio quality felt flat and lacked the depth I expect from a big-budget film.

Viewer’s Verdict: 4K or One-Time Watch?

Is this movie worth your time? I would say it is a one-time watch at best. You do not need to hunt for a 4K version. The visual quality is not high enough to justify the extra data. If you find it on TV or a streaming site in 1080p, that is more than enough.

I think the movie is good if you like old-school political fights. But for a modern audience, it might feel a bit boring. I wouldn’t watch it twice.

Conclusion
