Dus kahaniyaan (2007) Full Hindi Movie (4K) | 10 Best STORIES | Sanjay Dutt & Nana Patekar (2026) Movie watch Review

Dus Kahaniyaan 4K Movie Review: Is This Sanjay Dutt and Nana Patekar Classic Still Worth Watching?

If you grew up watching Bollywood in the mid-2000s, you probably remember the buzz around Dus Kahaniyaan. Released originally in 2007, this anthology film was a bold experiment for its time. Now, with the film resurfacing in a 4K remaster in 2026, fans are curious if these ten short stories still pack a punch.

In this review, we break down the 4K experience, the performances of legends like Sanjay Dutt and Nana Patekar, and whether the technical upgrades make it a “must-watch.”

The Plot: Ten Stories, One Rollercoaster

Dus Kahaniyaan is exactly what the title says—ten stories. These range from dark thrillers and supernatural tales to emotional dramas about human relationships.

The standout segments remain “Gubbare,” featuring a brilliant Nana Patekar, and “Rise and Fall,” starring Sanjay Dutt and Sunil Shetty. While some stories feel a bit dated or rushed, the variety keeps you hooked. It’s like a box of chocolates; you might not like every piece, but you’ll definitely find a few favorites.

Acting and Performances

The star power in this movie is massive. Sanjay Dutt brings his signature “swag” to the gangster-themed shorts, reminding us why he ruled the 2000s crime genre. On the other hand, Nana Patekar provides the emotional soul of the film. His performance in the segment about balloons is hauntingly beautiful and easily the best part of the entire anthology.

Other actors like Arbaaz Khan, Vidya Balan, and Naseeruddin Shah also deliver solid performances, though some of the smaller stories feel a bit “filler” compared to the heavy hitters.

The Hindi Dubbing and Sound Quality

One of the most talked-about aspects of this 4K re-release is the audio. Since this is an older film, the 4K version has undergone significant sound cleaning.

However, the Hindi dubbing quality is a bit of a mixed bag. In some segments, the dialogue feels perfectly crisp and synced. But in others, you can tell that certain lines were re-recorded or “dubbed over” during the remastering process to remove background noise. This leads to a slight “studio-room” feel where the voices don’t always match the natural environment of the scene. If you are an audiophile, you might notice the lip-syncing feels a bit off in the high-definition format, which is a common issue when old films are upscaled.

Director’s Style: Comparison with Sanjay Gupta’s Work

Sanjay Gupta, the mastermind behind the project, is known for his “cool,” stylized filmmaking. If you’ve seen Kaante or Musafir, you’ll recognize his touch here—lots of slow-motion shots, saturated colors, and a gritty atmosphere.

Compared to his full-length features, Dus Kahaniyaan feels like a creative playground. While Shootout at Lokhandwala was intense and focused, this film is more experimental. It lacks the tight narrative of his bigger hits, but it succeeds in showcasing his ability to create a “vibe” in just 10 minutes.

Is the 4K Remaster Actually Good?

The visual jump to 4K is impressive. The colors are deeper, and the “film grain” that gave the 2007 version its character is now much sharper. The dark, moody cinematography that Sanjay Gupta loves looks fantastic on modern OLED screens. It doesn’t look like a 2026 modern film, but it definitely looks better than the grainy DVDs we used to own.

Viewer’s Verdict: 4K Worth or One-Time View?

Our Rating: 3.5/5 Stars

Should you watch it in 4K?
If you are a fan of nostalgic Bollywood or a die-hard follower of Nana Patekar and Sanjay Dutt, the 4K version is worth a watch. The visual upgrades make the better stories feel fresh again.

However, if you are looking for a groundbreaking cinematic experience by 2026 standards, this might just be a one-time view. Some stories haven’t aged well in terms of writing, and the slight issues with the dubbing sync can be distracting.

Final Thought: Put it on a lazy Sunday afternoon. It’s a great way to revisit a unique chapter of Indian cinema history where Bollywood tried something different.

  3. I have seen thus film in 2007 in Adlabs theatre Indore. I didn't find this film entertaining and engaging at that time, although it was a new concept way back then. None of the 10 stories were impactful nd well developed. Ensembling cast packed with good actors didn't get enough room to perform at best, so film got a poor reception.

  4. Itna accha concept hone ke baad bhi ye movie flop kaise huyi thi yahi sochkar main Khud confuse hu bhenchod log faltu movies ko hit kar dete hai blockbuster kar dete hai aur aisi itani acchi movies ko flop kar dete hai 😢😢😢
