I recently watched the classic comedy Ye Dono Chor Hain! which is actually the famous movie Ek Aur Ek Gyarah. This film features the iconic duo of Govinda and Sanjay Dutt. I have always loved their chemistry on screen. Even after many years, their comic timing feels fresh and funny. If you love 90s and early 2000s Bollywood, this movie is a treat for you.

The Magic of Govinda and Sanjay Dutt

In my opinion, nobody does comedy like Govinda. His facial expressions are enough to make me laugh. In this movie, he plays Tara, while Sanjay Dutt plays Sitara. They are two small-time thieves on the run. I really liked how they played off each other’s energy. Sanjay Dutt acts as the tough guy with a soft heart. Govinda is the clever one who talks his way out of trouble.

Dhawan knows how to use Govinda’s talent. However, I feel Ek Aur Ek Gyarah is a bit more loud than Partner. The jokes are fast and sometimes silly. But that is the charm of a David Dhawan movie. Technical Quality & Hindi Dubbing

Now, let’s talk about the technical side of this version. I watched the 4K restored version recently. I must say, the picture looks very clean. The colors are bright and look much better than the old DVD versions. The skin tones look natural now. You can see the details in the actors’ clothes clearly.

However, I have some issues with the Hindi dubbing quality. Since this is an older film, the audio sync is not perfect. In some scenes, I noticed the lip-sync was slightly off. This usually happens when the audio is remastered separately from the video.

The background music is sometimes too loud. It almost drowns out the funny dialogues. I wish the sound mixing was a bit more balanced. The voices sound a bit “hollow” in the indoor scenes. It’s not a deal-breaker, but you will notice it if you use good headphones.

Viewer’s Verdict: 4K Watch or One-Time View?

Is this movie worth watching in 4K? I would say yes, but only if you are a big fan of Govinda. The 4K resolution makes the dance sequences look great. The songs are colorful and fun to watch on a big TV.

If you are a casual viewer, a one-time watch on any platform is enough. The comedy is the main hero here, not the visuals. You don’t need high resolution to enjoy Govinda’s jokes. But for collectors, the 4K version is a nice upgrade for their library.

I had a great time revisiting this movie. It made me feel nostalgic about the early 2000s. The duo of Tara and Sitara is legendary. While the dubbing has some minor issues, the comedy makes up for it. It is a loud, colorful, and happy film. I recommend watching it with your family on a lazy Sunday.
