I finally sat down to watch Thalapathy Vijay’s latest movie, Faisla Uparwale Ka. This is the Hindi dubbed version of his mega-hit film, The Greatest of All Time (GOAT). As a fan of South Indian cinema, I had high hopes. Vijay is known for his massive screen presence. This movie tries to give him a grand stage. The Story and Performances

In Faisla Uparwale Ka, he tries something different. He uses de-aging technology for the younger Vijay. I think it is a brave move. But, I felt the screenplay was a bit long. The Hindi dubbing is a major part of the experience for me. I have mixed feelings about it. The voice chosen for Vijay is good. It has that weight and power. However, the lip-sync is off in several places.

I noticed that some heavy dialogues did not match the mouth movements. This happens often in dubbed movies, but here it was quite clear. The translation of the jokes was also a bit flat. Some Tamil puns just don’t work in Hindi. But overall, the dubbing is much better than the old goldmines dubs we used to get.

Is this movie worth your time? I think it depends on how you watch it. If you have a big 4K TV and a good sound system, go for it. The action and the songs look great in high definition. It is a visual spectacle for sure.

However, if you are looking for a deep story, you might be disappointed. The second half feels a bit repetitive. I would say it is a great one-time watch for the action.
