I recently sat down to rewatch Good Boy Bad Boy in its new 4K version. This movie stars Emraan Hashmi and Tusshar Kapoor as two college students. They have the same name but totally different personalities. One is a “bad boy” who loves bunking classes. The other is a “good boy” who tops every exam. A mix-up in the college office swaps their sections. This leads to a lot of funny moments and chaos.

However, I have some complaints about the Hindi dubbing. Even though this is a Hindi movie, many scenes look like they were dubbed in a studio later. I noticed that the lip-sync is not perfect. In 4K, this becomes very obvious. You can see the mouth moving differently from the words we hear.

The background score is also quite loud. Sometimes, it hides the dialogues. I think the sound mixing could have been better for this high-quality release. Comparison With Other Ashwani Dhir Films

The director, Ashwani Dhir, is known for making family comedies. I compared this to his other work like Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge?. I feel that Atithi had a much better script. It felt more real and grounded.

On the other hand, Good Boy Bad Boy feels like a loud comic book. It is similar to his later film, Son of Sardaar, in terms of energy. But it lacks the emotional touch of his better movies. I think this was early in his career, so the style was still developing.

Is this movie worth watching in 4K? I would say it is a one-time view for most people. If you are a big fan of Emraan Hashmi, you will love the high-quality visuals. The songs like “Good Boy Bad Boy” look great on a big screen.

But if you want a tight story, you might get bored. The dubbing issues I mentioned might also ruin the experience for some. I suggest watching it for the nostalgia factor. It brings back memories of college life from twenty years ago.
