Technical Quality & Hindi Dubbing

I watched the new 4K version of this movie. I must say, the picture quality is a bit of a mixed bag. The color grading looks much better now. The greens of the Punjab fields look very real and fresh. The 4K resolution helps you see the details in the actors’ costumes. However, I have a big complaint about the Hindi dubbing and sound sync.

In many scenes, the Hindi dubbing does not match the lip-sync at all. It feels like the audio was recorded much later. The voices sometimes sound too loud for the room they are in. For a high-quality 4K release, I expected better sound engineering. The background music sometimes drowns out the dialogue. This was quite distracting for me. It takes away the magic of the emotional scenes.

Viewer’s Verdict: 4K Watch or One-Time View?

Is Pardes worth a 4K watch? I would say yes, but only for the visuals and the songs. The songs like “Do Dil Mil Rahe Hain” look beautiful in high definition. The landscapes of Canada and India look stunning.

However, if you are someone who gets annoyed by bad lip-sync, you might struggle. The dubbing issues are hard to ignore in some parts. If you are a die-hard SRK fan, you will love it anyway. For a casual viewer, a standard version might be enough. It is a great movie to watch with your family.

Conclusion

Pardes remains a beautiful story about roots and love. Shah Rukh Khan is the soul of the movie. While the technical dubbing has flaws, the emotions are still strong. I really enjoyed the nostalgia trip. It reminds us why we love old Bollywood so much.
