Jackie Shroff’s Police Officer Movie Review: A 90s Action Treat

I recently sat down to watch the 1992 hit movie Police Officer. It stars the evergreen Jackie Shroff and a very young Karisma Kapoor. Director Ashok Gaikwad was known for making loud and proud action movies. If you compare this film to his other works like Phool Aur Angaar, you see a pattern. He loves showing a hero who stands against a corrupt system.

However, the Hindi dubbing quality is where I found some issues. Since this movie was filmed a long time ago, the audio remastering is tricky. In many scenes, the Hindi dubbing does not match the lip-sync perfectly. I noticed that the sound of the punches sometimes comes a second later.

Viewer’s Verdict: 4K Watch or One-Time View?

Is this movie worth your time in 4K? I would say it depends. If you are a die-hard fan of Jackie Shroff, the 4K version is a treat. It is the best this movie has ever looked. You will enjoy the “masala” elements and the retro songs in high definition.

But, if you are not into old Bollywood logic, this might be a one-time view for you. The plot is quite predictable. The technical flaws in the dubbing can be annoying for some. I think it is a great movie to watch on a Sunday afternoon with your family. It brings back memories of the single-screen theater days.
