I finally sat down to watch Kalki 2898 AD, and I have a lot to say. This movie has been the talk of the town for months. I was curious to see if the hype was real. As a fan of sci-fi and mythology, my expectations were very high. I watched it in the best quality possible to catch every detail.

How Does it Compare to Nag Ashwin’s Previous Work?

I have followed Nag Ashwin’s journey since Mahanati. That movie was a masterpiece of emotions. It was simple yet very powerful. Kalki 2898 AD is a completely different beast. It shows how much the director has grown.

In his earlier films, he focused on small human moments. Here, he tries to build a whole new world. I feel he handled the scale very well. I really liked how the golden glow of the “Complex” stood out against the dust of Shambala.

Now, let me talk about the Hindi dubbing. This is where many South Indian movies fail. But for Kalki 2898 AD, the Hindi dubbing is quite good. Since Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone spoke their own lines, it felt very natural.

However, I noticed a few issues with Prabhas’s character. In some high-energy scenes, the Hindi voice did not perfectly match his lip movements. The choice of words in Hindi was decent. They used simple words instead of heavy Sanskrit terms. This made it easy for me to follow the story. Is this movie worth a 4K watch? My answer is a big yes. If you have a good 4K TV and a soundbar, you must watch it in high resolution. The world-building is so detailed that you will miss things on a small phone screen.

However, is it a movie you will watch again and again? I feel the second half is worth re-watching. The first half is a bit of a drag. I might skip the comedy scenes if I watch it again. It is definitely more than a one-time view for the climax alone. The link between the past and the future is handled beautifully. It makes me want to watch the sequel right now.
