[post_title], review

I finally watched Kalki 2898 AD last night on my 4K TV. I was waiting for this movie for a long time. The trailers looked big and the cast was even bigger. After sitting through three hours, I have a lot to say. This movie is a mix of Indian mythology and future science fiction. I felt that the director tried to do something very new for Indian cinema.

The Story and My Initial Thoughts

The movie starts in the era of Mahabharata and then jumps to the year 2898. I liked how the world-building was done. The city of Kasi looks dark and dusty. On the other side, “The Complex” looks very clean and advanced. I felt the first half was a bit slow. It took a lot of time to introduce the characters. Prabhas plays Bhairava, and his entry was fun. However, the real star for me was Amitabh Bachchan as Ashwatthama. His presence on screen is just amazing. You can read more about the plot details on the Kalki 2898 AD Wikipedia page.

Technical Quality & Hindi Dubbing

Let’s talk about the technical side, which is the soul of this movie. I watched this in 4K resolution. The image quality is very sharp. Every detail on the costumes and the rusty robots looked clear. The color grading is quite unique. They used a lot of gold and black tones for the future scenes. It gives the movie a very gritty and real feel.

Now, coming to the Hindi dubbing quality. This is where I have mixed feelings. Since the movie was shot in Telugu, the Hindi dubbing has to be perfect. I felt that Amitabh Bachchan’s voice was the best part. It sounded natural and deep. But for some other characters, the lip-sync was a bit off. I noticed that the words didn’t always match the mouth movements. This can be annoying if you watch closely on a big screen. Prabhas’s Hindi dub was okay, but it lacked the punch in some comedy scenes. If you want to check out more technical reviews of south movies, visit our site hdfolders.com.

How Does it Compare to Nag Ashwin’s Previous Movies?

I have seen Nag Ashwin’s previous work like Mahanati. That movie was a masterpiece in storytelling. In Kalki 2898 AD, he has moved from a simple biopic to a massive action film. I think he handled the scale very well. However, I missed the emotional depth that was there in Mahanati. This movie focuses more on the big visuals and loud sounds. It is a big step up for him in terms of technology. But I feel the script could have been tighter. He has shown that he can handle a huge budget easily.

Viewer’s Verdict: Is it Worth a 4K Watch?

If you are wondering if you should watch this in 4K or just on your phone, here is my take. This movie is definitely worth a 4K watch. The visuals are the main reason to see it. The battle scenes between Ashwatthama and Bhairava look great on a high-resolution screen. If you watch it on a small screen, you will miss the small details in the background. It is not just a one-time watch if you love sci-fi. I might watch the last 30 minutes again just for the action.

Conclusion

Overall, I enjoyed the experience. It has some flaws in the pace and the Hindi dubbing sync. But the vision of the director is great. The climax of the movie is the best part. It leaves you waiting for the next chapter. The background music also adds a lot of power to the scenes. I hope the next part has better lip-sync for the Hindi version.

My Rating: 4/5
