Pyaasa Sawan Movie Review: A Classic Tale of Love and Sacrifice

I recently sat down to rewatch Pyaasa Sawan. This 1981 film is a true classic. It features Jeetendra and Reena Roy in lead roles. I remember watching this on TV years ago. Seeing it again brought back so many memories. It is a story about two generations. It shows how a father’s choices affect his son’s life.

However, I have some complaints about the technical side. The Hindi dubbing quality is quite average. Since this was a remake of a Telugu film, some parts feel dubbed. I noticed that the lip-sync does not match in several scenes. Sometimes, Jeetendra finishes his dialogue, but his lips are still moving.

The background music is also a bit too loud. It sometimes drowns out the soft dialogues. The audio cleaning is not as good as the video restoration. I expected better sound from a 4K release. If you are sensitive to lip-sync issues, this might bother you.

Viewer’s Verdict: Is it Worth a 4K Watch?

Is this movie worth a 4K watch? My answer is yes, but only for fans. If you love old Bollywood music, the 4K version is great. The songs look like they were filmed yesterday. The landscape shots look very pretty in high resolution.

But if you are a casual viewer, a regular HD version is enough. The story is a typical 80s drama. It has a lot of crying and long speeches. For me, it was a nostalgic trip. I enjoyed seeing the old style of filmmaking. It is a good film to watch with your parents on a Sunday afternoon.

Pyaasa Sawan is a beautiful movie with great songs. Jeetendra and Reena Roy did a great job. The technical restoration has some flaws in the audio department. But the visual part is quite good.
