I recently sat down to re-watch the 1989 classic Ram Lakhan, and man, it was a nostalgic ride. This movie is a true gem from the golden era of Bollywood. However, I have some complaints about the Hindi dubbing quality. In many scenes, the lip-sync is quite poor. I noticed that the actors’ mouths move, but the sound comes a second later. This happened mostly in the high-drama scenes.

The audio restoration feels a bit lazy. The background score is sometimes too loud, making the dialogues hard to hear. For a 4K release, I expected the sound to be as crisp as the video. It can be a bit distracting if you pay close attention to the lip movements.

So, should you watch this in 4K? I think it depends. If you are a die-hard fan of Anil Kapoor and Jackie Shroff, then yes. Seeing the “My Name is Lakhan” song in high resolution is a treat for the eyes. The dance steps and the sets look great in 4K.

But if you are a casual viewer, a one-time watch on a standard platform is enough. The dubbing issues might annoy you if you are looking for a perfect technical experience. I enjoyed it because of the nostalgia, but the technical flaws are hard to ignore.

Overall, Ram Lakhan remains a classic for a reason. It has great songs, amazing acting, and scenes that make you laugh even today. The “Vegetarian Eggs” scene is still the highlight for me.
