Technical Quality & Hindi Dubbing

I watched the 4K restored version recently. I must say, the visual upgrade is quite good. The vast deserts of Rajasthan look very real. The night scenes are much clearer now. You can see the sweat and dust on the actors’ faces.

However, I have some thoughts on the audio and Hindi dubbing. In the 90s, movies used sync-sound less often. Most actors did “dubbing” in a studio later. In this 4K version, the sharp picture makes the lip-sync issues very obvious.

I noticed that in some emotional scenes, the lip movement does not match the voice perfectly. It feels a bit off when you watch it on a large screen. Also, the background score is sometimes too loud. It drowns out the soft dialogues. But the iconic songs still sound great in high definition.

Viewer’s Verdict: 4K Watch or One-Time View?

Is this movie worth a 4K watch? My answer is a big yes. If you are a fan of Indian cinema, you need to see this version. The scale of the war looks grand in 4K. It is much better than watching a blurry version on TV.

However, if you are someone who gets annoyed by minor technical flaws like lip-sync, you might find the dubbing a bit distracting. For me, the nostalgia wins every time. It is a movie I can watch every year and never get bored.
