Tapori Wanted Movie Review: Mahesh Babu’s Pokiri Hindi Dubbed Action

If you love South Indian mass cinema, you must know Mahesh Babu. I recently watched Tapori Wanted, the Hindi dubbed version of his legendary film Pokiri. This movie is why Mahesh Babu became a superstar across India. Even after many years, the craze for this film is still huge. I wanted to see if the Hindi version lives up to the original magic.

The Story and Puri Jagannadh’s Style

The story follows Pandu, a cold-blooded hitman who works for money. He joins a gang led by Ali Bhai. But there is a big secret about Pandu that comes out later. I think the plot is still very fresh. It has the perfect mix of action, romance, and a shocking twist.

I have watched many films by director Puri Jagannadh. He is famous for making “mass” heroes. If I compare this to his other films like Businessman or Temper, this one feels more special. The hero’s attitude is very cool. He doesn’t talk much but his actions speak loudly. At hdfolders.com, we have reviewed many other Puri Jagannadh films too. You can check them out to see how his style has changed over time.

Technical Quality & Hindi Dubbing

Now, let’s talk about the technical side. I watched the 4K remastered version of this film. The 4K resolution makes a big difference. The images are very sharp now. You can see the details in Mahesh Babu’s face during close-up shots. The color grading is also much better. The old yellow tint is gone. Now, the colors look very real and bright.

However, I have some thoughts on the Hindi dubbing. The title Tapori Wanted sounds a bit cheap. In the original Pokiri, Mahesh Babu has a very intense voice. The Hindi voice actor did a decent job, but it feels a bit loud. The lip-sync is mostly good in the action scenes. But in the emotional scenes, you can tell it is dubbed. Some of the “Tapori” slang used in Hindi feels a bit forced. I wish they had kept the dialogues more natural.

Action and Music

The action scenes are the best part. I really liked the fight in the lift and the climax. Mahesh Babu looks like a real action star. The stunts are not too “over the top” like some modern movies. They feel raw and powerful.

The music by Mani Sharma is great. The background score gives me goosebumps every time. In the Hindi version, the songs are okay. But the lyrics don’t feel as catchy as the original ones. I still prefer listening to the original soundtrack while watching the action.

Viewer’s Verdict: 4K Watch or One-Time View?

Is this movie worth a 4K watch? My answer is a big yes. If you are a fan of Mahesh Babu, you must see this in high quality. The 4K version makes it feel like a new movie. The action looks way better on a big screen with high resolution.

However, if you are not a fan of old-school dubbing, you might find it a bit loud. For a casual viewer, it might be a one-time watch. But for action lovers, it is a gold mine. I feel that the Hindi dubbing could have been more polished. Still, the story and the hero’s swag carry the whole film.

Conclusion

I really enjoyed revisitng this classic. Mahesh Babu is just amazing as Pandu. The direction is sharp and the twist is still the best in South cinema history. While the Hindi dubbing has some flaws, the 4K quality makes up for it. It is a treat for the eyes.

My Rating: 4/5
