I recently re-watched the classic movie Tezaab, and it took me right back to the 80s. This film is a huge part of Indian cinema history. It made Anil Kapoor a superstar and Madhuri Dixit the nation’s heartbeat. I wanted to see if the magic still exists today. The story follows Mahesh Deshmukh, a young man with big dreams. Compared to Ankush, I think Tezaab is more commercial. It has great songs and a big romance. But it still keeps that “angry young man” soul. Chandra knows how to show the dark side of a city. Technical Quality & Hindi Dubbing

I watched this movie in a new 4K remastered version. I must say, the visual jump is quite big. The colors of the “Ek Do Teen” song look very bright and fresh. The skin tones of the actors look more natural now. I could see the sweat and dust on Anil Kapoor’s face clearly. This adds a lot of realism to the action scenes.

However, I need to talk about the Hindi dubbing and audio sync. Back in 1988, movies were mostly dubbed in a studio after filming. In this high-definition version, the lip-sync issues are very easy to spot. I noticed that in many emotional scenes, the voice starts before the lips move. The background score is also a bit too loud. It sometimes hides the natural sounds of the environment. The Hindi dubbing feels a bit dated and “hollow” in some places. I wish they had cleaned up the audio as much as they cleaned the video.

The Supporting Cast

I cannot talk about this movie without mentioning Kiran Kumar as Lotiya Pathan. He is a terrifying villain. His voice and look still give me chills. I also liked the bond between Munna and his friends. It felt like a real brotherhood. Madhuri Dixit as Mohini is pure gold. Her dancing is famous, but her acting in the sad scenes is also great. She handled the pressure of a broken home very well on screen.

Viewer’s Verdict: 4K Watch or One-Time View?

Is Tezaab worth a 4K watch? My answer is a big yes. Even with the dubbing issues, the movie is a visual treat. The 4K resolution makes the old Mumbai look beautiful. The action feels more intense. If you are a fan of 80s Bollywood, you will love this. However, if you only care about perfect sound, the audio sync might bother you. For me, the nostalgia and Anil Kapoor’s acting make it a must-watch.
