Trikona (2024) Movie Review: A Tense South Indian Suspense Thriller

I recently sat down to watch the Hindi dubbed version of Trikona (2024). I love South Indian thrillers because they always bring something new to the table. This movie is a suspenseful drama that focuses on human emotions like anger and patience. I found the concept very fresh and relatable for today’s fast-paced world.

The Plot: A Test of Human Ego

The story follows three different groups of people. They are all traveling on the same highway. One group is an old couple. Another is a middle-aged man with his wife. The third is a young, hot-headed guy.

I liked how the movie shows their different mindsets. They all face a similar problem on the road. The way they handle it depends on their “Trikona” or three qualities: Patience, Fear, and Anger. I felt that the suspense builds up slowly but surely. It is not just an action movie. It is a deep look at how we behave when we are stuck.

Direction and Comparison

The director, Chandrakanth, has done a decent job here. If you look at his past work, he often focuses on human behavior. You can read more about the movie’s background on Wikipedia.

Compared to his previous films, I think Trikona is more polished. He managed to keep the tension high without using too many characters. Many South Indian directors rely on loud action. But Chandrakanth relies on the script. I found this approach much better than typical masala movies. If you like such thought-provoking films, you can check out more reviews on hdfolders.com.

Technical Quality & Hindi Dubbing

I watched this movie in 4K resolution. The visual quality is actually quite impressive. The drone shots of the highway look great. The color grading is very natural. It does not look fake or overly edited. Every frame feels real and grounded.

However, I have some complaints about the Hindi dubbing. My main issue is the lip-sync. In many scenes, the Hindi dialogue starts after the actor’s mouth stops moving. This broke my focus a few times.

Also, the choice of voice actors could have been better. The old man’s voice sounds a bit too young. The anger in the young man’s voice feels forced. The Hindi translation is simple and easy to understand. But the “feel” of the original Kannada version is missing. If you are someone who notices small details, the dubbing might annoy you.

Viewer’s Verdict: Is it worth a 4K Watch?

This brings me to the big question. Should you watch this in 4K?

I would say Trikona is a one-time view. The story is the hero here, not the big visual effects. While the 4K clarity is good, it doesn’t add much to the thrill. You can easily enjoy this movie on a standard HD screen.

I think the movie is great for a lazy Sunday afternoon. It makes you think about your own life. But it lacks the “rewatch value” that big blockbusters have. The slow pace in the middle might make some viewers bored. But if you stay till the end, the message is quite beautiful.

Conclusion

Overall, Trikona is a solid attempt at a psychological thriller. I really liked the performances of the lead actors. They look like real people you would meet on the road. The music is okay, but the background score helps in building the mood.

If you can ignore the average Hindi dubbing, it is a good watch. I hope more such movies are made instead of just mindless action. It is a simple story told in a very effective way.

My Rating: 3/5
