I recently sat down to revisit the classic film Veertaa. It stars Sunny Deol and Jaya Prada in lead roles. This movie is a high-energy action drama from the early 90s. Technical Quality & Hindi Dubbing

Let’s talk about the technical side of the new 4K version. I was quite surprised by the visual quality. The color grading is very good for an old film. The reds and blues look very sharp. The skin tones of the actors look natural and real. I did not see much digital noise in the dark scenes. It looks much better than the old DVD versions.

However, I have to talk about the Hindi dubbing quality. It is a bit of a letdown. In many scenes, the lip-sync is totally off. I noticed that the actors’ lips move, but the sound comes a second later. This was a common problem in 90s films because of studio dubbing. I found it quite distracting during the emotional scenes. The sound effects are also very loud. Sometimes, the background music covers up the dialogues. I wish they had cleaned up the audio as much as the video.

Viewer’s Verdict: 4K Watch or One-Time View?

Is Veertaa worth watching in 4K? I would say yes, but only if you are a hardcore Sunny Deol fan. The 4K upgrade makes the action scenes look great. It is fun to see the old sets and costumes in high detail. I enjoyed the nostalgic feel of the movie.

If you are a casual viewer, this might be a one-time watch for you. The story is quite predictable. The dubbing issues might also bother you after a while.
