I recently sat down to watch two classic Akshay Kumar films: Sapoot and Police Force. Both movies show Akshay in his prime action mode. If you love 90s and early 2000s Bollywood, these names must be on your list. I wanted to see how they look in high quality today. Here is my honest review of these two action-packed movies.

Sapoot: The Ultimate Brother Bond

In Sapoot, Akshay Kumar teams up with Suniel Shetty. I think they were the best duo of that era. They play brothers who take revenge for their father’s death. The story is simple but the action is very loud. I liked how Akshay performs his stunts. He looks very fit and fast in this movie. The emotional scenes between the brothers feel a bit old now. However, for a 90s fan, it is pure gold.

Police Force: A Hard-Hitting Story

Police Force: An Inside Story is a bit different. It was released in 2004 but filmed much earlier. Akshay plays a police trainer here. The movie tries to show the real problems in the system. I liked that it was not just a mindless action film. It has a deeper message about honesty. Raveena Tandon also did a great job. But, the movie feels a bit slow in the middle. The delay in its release made the fashion and style look a bit old.

Comparing the Directors

Jagdish A. Sharma directed Sapoot. He is known for making typical masala films. If I compare Sapoot to his other work like Nazar Ke Samne, Sapoot is much better. It has better production value and a bigger cast.

On the other hand, Dileep Shukla directed Police Force. He is famous for writing great dialogues for movies like Damini. You can see that influence in the powerful lines Akshay speaks. However, as a director, Shukla’s pacing is a bit weak. Sharma’s Sapoot feels more like a complete package for entertainment.

Technical Quality & Hindi Dubbing

Now, let’s talk about the 4K showreel quality. I saw the remastered versions of these films. The 4K resolution makes the old scenes look very clear. The colors are bright, but sometimes the color grading feels too heavy. The skin tones look a bit orange in some scenes.

The Hindi dubbing and audio sync are my biggest complaints. In the 90s, actors recorded their voices later in a studio. This is called ADR. In these 4K versions, the “Hindi dubbing” or voice sync is often off. I noticed that the lips of the actors move, but the sound comes a second later.

In Police Force, the background music is too loud. It sometimes drowns out the real dialogues. The audio quality is not as clean as modern movies. If you are a fan of clear sound, this might bother you. The dubbing in Sapoot feels more natural than in Police Force.

Viewer’s Verdict: 4K Watch or One-Time View?

Is this worth a 4K watch? I would say Sapoot is great for a 4K watch if you love the Akshay-Suniel duo. The action scenes look beautiful in high definition. You can see every kick and punch clearly.

However, Police Force is more of a one-time view. The technical flaws are more visible in the 4K version. It does not feel like a “must-see” in high resolution. You can enjoy it on a normal TV screen just fine.

Conclusion

Both movies are a great trip down memory lane. Akshay Kumar proves why he was called the “Khiladi” of Bollywood.
