I recently sat down to watch the 1959 classic Chirag Kahan Roshni Kahan. This film features the legendary Meena Kumari and the “Jubilee Star” Rajendra Kumar. However, I have some complaints about the Hindi dubbing. Since this is an old film, the sound was recorded separately. I noticed that the lip-sync is off in many scenes. When Rajendra Kumar speaks fast, his lips move but the sound comes a second later. It can be a bit distracting. The background music is great, but it sometimes hides the dialogues. The audio cleaning could have been better. I wanted the voices to be more crisp.

Viewer’s Verdict: 4K Watch or One-Time View?

Is this movie worth a 4K watch? Well, it depends on what you like. If you are a big fan of Meena Kumari, then yes. Seeing her expressions in high definition is a treat. The visual quality makes the movie look very fresh.

But for most young people, I think this is a one-time view. The story is very slow. It takes a long time to get to the point. If you are looking for fast action, this is not for you. I would suggest watching it on a weekend when you are in a quiet mood. It is a beautiful piece of history, but it requires patience.
