Do Matwale Movie Review: Sanjay Dutt and Chunky Pandey’s Action Classic

If you love 90s Bollywood action, you probably remember Do Matwale. This movie brings back the classic duo of Sanjay Dutt and Chunky Pandey. I recently watched this film again to see if it still holds up today. It is a typical masala entertainer with loud action and heavy dialogues.

The Story and the Cast

The story of Do Matwale is quite simple. It follows two brave men who stand up against injustice. Sanjay Dutt plays his signature “tough guy” role perfectly. Chunky Pandey brings a lot of energy and fun to the screen.

I feel their chemistry is the best part of the movie. They look like real friends who would die for each other. The female leads, Sonam and Shilpa Shirodkar, also did a decent job. But let’s be honest, we watch this for the “Sanju Baba” style action. You can also read our review of other Sanjay Dutt films like Khalnayak on hdfolders.com.

Technical Quality & Hindi Dubbing

Now, let’s talk about the technical side. I watched the remastered version. The 4K resolution makes the old scenes look much cleaner. The colors are bright and look good on a big screen. However, I noticed some issues with the Hindi dubbing.

In the 90s, sync sound was not a thing. Actors dubbed their voices later in a studio. In this movie, the Hindi dubbing quality is a bit hit or miss. At times, the lip-sync does not match the heavy dialogues. I found it a bit distracting during the emotional scenes.

The background score is very loud. Sometimes, it hides the actual words spoken by the actors. If you are a fan of clear audio, you might find this annoying. But for a 90s film, it is still acceptable. I have seen better audio work in movies like Vardi, which was also directed by Ajay Kashyap.

Comparing with Ajay Kashyap’s Other Films

Director Ajay Kashyap was known for making high-voltage action movies. If I compare Do Matwale to his other work like Aag Ke Sholay, I see a pattern. He loves showing big explosions and long fight sequences.

I think Do Matwale has a better story than some of his other films. It feels more grounded because of the lead actors. While his other movies focus only on action, this one has a bit of soul. If you like the style of Aag Ke Sholay, you will definitely enjoy this one too.

Viewer’s Verdict: Is it Worth a 4K Watch?

Is this movie worth your time in 4K? I have mixed feelings about this. If you are a die-hard fan of Sanjay Dutt, go for it. The 4K version shows his screen presence in a great way.

However, for a normal viewer, this might feel like a one-time view. The plot is very predictable. The action can feel a bit dated now. I suggest watching it on a weekend for some old-school nostalgia. You don’t need a high-end home theater to enjoy this. A simple TV screen will work just fine.

Conclusion

I enjoyed revisiting Do Matwale. It reminds me of a time when movies were simple and fun. The action is raw and the dialogues are catchy. The dubbing issues are there, but they don’t ruin the experience. It is a classic example of 90s Bollywood masala. If you want to see more 90s reviews, check out our list on hdfolders.com.
