I recently watched Inaam Dus Hazaar, and it took me back to the golden days of 80s action. Sanjay Dutt looks young and full of energy in this film. If you love old-school Bollywood thrillers, this one is a treat. It has drama, mystery, and great music.

The Story and My Experience

The story follows Kamal, played by Sanjay Dutt. He is an ordinary man who gets caught in a big mess. He is accused of a crime he did not commit. I really liked how the plot keeps you guessing. It is actually inspired by a famous Hollywood film. But the Indian touch makes it very special.

Meenakshi Seshadri looks beautiful and acts very well. Her chemistry with Sanjay Dutt is quite nice. I enjoyed the chase sequences the most. They are not like modern CGI-heavy scenes. They feel real and raw. I felt the tension every time Kamal tried to escape the police. You can read more about the cast on the Inaam Dus Hazaar Wikipedia page.

Jyoti Swaroop’s Direction

The director of this movie is Jyoti Swaroop. Most people know him for the comedy classic Padosan. But in this movie, he shows a different side. I think he handled the thriller elements very well.

Compared to Padosan, this movie is much more serious. However, he still keeps the entertainment high. He knows how to balance songs and action. Many directors in the 80s struggled with this. But Jyoti Swaroop made it look easy. If you want to see more reviews of directors from that era, check out our other posts on hdfolders.com.

Technical Quality & Hindi Dubbing

I watched the new 4K restored version of this film. I must say, the picture looks very clean. The color grading is impressive for an old movie. The skin tones look natural. The outdoor scenes in the hills look very bright and clear.

However, I have some thoughts on the Hindi dubbing and sound. Back in the 80s, actors recorded their voices in a studio later. This is called ADR or dubbing. In this 4K version, the sound is very sharp. But sometimes, the Hindi dubbing does not match the lip-sync perfectly.

I noticed this in the high-energy action scenes. The voice sounds a bit detached from the actor’s face. The background music is also very loud. Sometimes it hides the dialogues. If you are a fan of perfect sync, this might bother you a little. But for most fans, it is just part of the 80s charm.

Viewer’s Verdict: Is it worth a 4K watch?

Is this movie worth a 4K watch? My answer is yes. If you are a Sanjay Dutt fan, you will love the clarity. You can see his expressions much better now. The clothes and the sets look much more detailed.

But if you are not a fan of old movies, this might be a one-time view. The story is good, but the pacing is a bit slow compared to today’s films. I suggest watching it on a big screen to enjoy the 4K details. It is a great way to relive the 1987 era.

Conclusion

I had a great time watching this classic. It has the right mix of action and emotion. The technical team did a good job with the restoration. Even with the slight dubbing issues, the movie holds up well. It is a solid piece of Bollywood history.

My Rating: 3.5/5
